The Altamonte Springs Science Incubator (AS2I) field trip program is made possible through a strong partnership with Seminole County Public Schools and local industry leaders. This collaboration immerses students in experiential STEM learning through interactive on-site field trips that connect coursework to real-world applications. With multiple exceptional learning environments, the program offers impactful, memorable STEM experiences.
At the “outdoor classroom” in Lake Lotus Park, a 150-acre nature preserve, students explore ecosystems, environmental science and field research techniques while engaging directly with nature. The “research classroom” at the award-winning Altamonte Springs Water Reclamation Facility, complete with a working environmental laboratory, gives students the opportunity to conduct scientific experiments and observe STEM in action at a professional level.
These settings transform traditional learning by providing authentic engagement with science, technology and engineering concepts. Students gain firsthand insight into the work of industry and municipal professionals, sparking curiosity and helping them envision future career paths.
By introducing students to a wide range of STEM professions and allowing them to apply concepts through hands-on activities, AS2I inspires the next generation of innovators while preparing them with practical skills to pursue high-demand careers.
