Internships are more essential than ever for high school and college students seeking competitive pathways after graduation. The City of Altamonte Springs provides a dynamic environment where students can explore careers, build a professional portfolio and expand their networks. Here, students are encouraged to learn without limits.
At the core of City operations is a team committed to creating a brighter future. The City offers a platform where young innovators can make a meaningful contribution while expanding their skills. We actively recruit passionate, growth-oriented interns who are eager to bring fresh ideas and a collaborative mindset to their work. The program serves as a gateway to real-world experience and professional development. Interns gain skills that prepare them for careers in local government and beyond.
College interns are placed within specific departments based on their interests, while high school interns participate in a rotational program that also includes students from CareerSource Central Florida. This model gives students exposure to multiple departments, enabling them to learn directly from professionals and understand daily operations in real time. All participants attend weekly Lunch and Learn sessions focused on workplace essentials such as Microsoft Outlook etiquette and effective internal communication, helping them build foundational professional skills.
Interns who join the City often discover opportunities they never expected. Through mentorship, networking and meaningful work, interns develop the confidence and capabilities necessary for a smooth transition into the professional world. The experience and connections help students get closer to securing jobs after graduation and lay the groundwork for long-term career success.
