ULI Central Florida: Altamonte Springs’ CraneRIDES AV Deployment - Our Path from Aspirational to Operational
Event date is tentative. Details and confirmed date coming soon.
The City of Altamonte Springs has become one of the nation’s leaders in innovation, mobility and the execution of transportation programs, with a long record of advancing new approaches. Few realize that Altamonte Springs was the founding agency for the Central Florida Commuter Rail Authority in the late 1980s, or that its City Hall served as the Authority’s first office. In the late 1990s the City tested microtransit. In the early 2000s it developed a demand-response transportation algorithm funded by the federal and state government. A decade later Altamonte Springs became the first City to deploy Uber as a public transportation partner, a model that was replicated in 70 cities across four continents and formed the basis of new law in Florida. Most recently, the City launched CraneRIDES, the first permanent autonomous vehicle deployment of its kind by a U.S. city.
Join us for a continental breakfast, networking and an informative presentation and panel discussion with Frank Martz, City Manager, City of Altamonte Springs; Lenny Barden, City/Transportation Engineer, City of Altamonte Springs; and Bri Kimmel, Director of Client Success from Beep. This ULI Central Florida program will be held at the Altamonte Global Innovation Lab. Attendees will learn about the City’s aspirational goal to integrate transit and land use, the operational deployment of CraneRIDES and the Lab’s focus on public–private partnerships and STEM education.
